One of only two genuine Prodrive rally cars currently competing in the United States (this one an ex-McRae car) was wrecked at Black River stages. It suffered significant structural damage, including damage to the cage roof, and probably won't be able to compete again.

Would probably pass tech at a Lemons race. Sad to hear about an old WRC car getting smashed to bits, but those kinds of things happen in stage rally. :(

sad... but kind of how a rally car SHOULD go out
was it not Mr McRae himself who endowed the virtues of flat out when one finds oneself in doubt

I would hope LeMons tech has high enough cage standards that they wouldn't allow this car without a full re-cage.

Pish Posh. A little Zaino and that'll buff right out.

Actually, rally cages (not damaged ones) are much more stringent than they are for Lemons or Chump. You can still run a bolted in cage in Chump as of this year.
I'm sure this car would have to be recaged in order to run in any series again. Then again, I saw CPD2 tweak its entire chassis at X-Games a few years ago, and still mange to be rebuilt and go on to set the fastest time on Brockway at LSPR the same year. Kyle Sarisin managed to beat guys in factory teams on a tarmac stage while running gravel tires. It was freakin' nuts.

What is broken can always be fixed if you have the money and patience. Unfortunately it is probably the end of the road for this banshee. I hope it will be looking over us beautiful guardian hoon angel...

Ha, just found this post searching to see if anyone had posted about BRS this year and saw myself over in that gawking gaggle in your bottom picture. Were you around when the local was telling the story of all the flowers under the tree that the car ended up on? That was some seriously spooky shit. I have a pretty good video of the FJ ripping the front radiator mount off too, not sure what they were thinking there.
